Reiko Groshell
Reiko has always had passion and excitement for dancing. As a young child she started out in ballet and tap dancing but stopped dancing to pursue her talents in music. Sarting at age 7 playing the flute, piccolo, tenor saxophone and snare drums she has traveled all over the United States and performed internationally with bands, doing shows, competitions and music exchanges (for about 15 years). During her music years, she had the opportunity to join a Hawaiian dance group and performed in the United States and Japan, dancing Hula and Tahitian, which brought her back to want to dance again. While trying to find her dance passion, she started out with West Coast Swing and some Argentine Tango. But it wasn't until she encountered Salsa that her passion for the music and dance awakened her desire to become a Salsera. Her first salsa class was with Isabelle in 1999 and from then on to the present, she has been with Isabelle's Salsa Academy teaching all levels. Being a musician has helped greatly in understanding the beat and rhythm. She has a skill in teaching and the technicality to break down dance moves and combinations so everyone can understand the lead and following techniques.
During her years of salsa dancing she has had the opportunity to learn from many instructors learning various styles, assisted Isabelle Salsa with an instructional DVD, taught with Isabelle on Salsa cruises and Club Med, Bally commercial and performed in various events.
Currently, she is in a dance group in order to always take her dancing to the next level and bring more experience back to the students.
Reiko's ambition is not to be a great salsa dancer. But to be able to inspire and encourage EVERYONE through her teaching that anyone can dance if they have the desire to. "To be able to share with others what Salsa gave me, is truly a wonderful thing."
